San Francisco Travel Tips
Whether you want to climb the hills of the San Francisco Bay Area or explorethe more urban delights of the "Cities by the Bay", you will never run outof things to see and do. Within every neighborhood, from San Jose in the"South Bay", Oakland in the "East Bay", San Francisco or Mill Valley, a diversity of tastes and interests are thriving! You will see it in the cuisine, the boutiques, the theater and the arts, word-class museums and boundless recreational opportunities. Visit the California Welcome Center at PIER 39 to help plan your visit toSan Francisco and the Bay Area. The Welcome Center is located in the heartof the world-famous Fisherman's Wharf area and offers a multi-lingual staff, ATM, Internet access to check e-mail, and airport shuttles. Helpful staffwill also assist you with information on attractions, dining, shopping andmore. Sunshine: 70 percent sunny spring through fall; thick coastal fog typically burns off by afternoon.

    Getting Around the Bay Area
 

From the city's unprecendent cable-car run down Clay Street in 1873 to the present-day computerized Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), San Francisco has had a long and successful tradition of public transportation. The city relies upon its daily patrons to, around and from the city. Located 15 miles from downtown San Francisco (see map).

    Bay Area Airports
 

The Bay Area has three major airports: San Francisco International (SFO), Oakland International (OAK) and San Jose International (SJC). All three airports are 24 hours, though airline ticket counters are not. Curb-side check-in is available by airline. For SFO and OAK you will need to check with your airline directly; SJC has a list on its Web site of which airlinesallow curb-side check-in.
