Golden Gate Bridge


One of the most breathtaking structures in the world, the Golden Gate Bridge offers magical views of the San Francisco Bay Area, connecting San Francisco and the Marin Headlands.

The iconic orange towers of the 4,200-foot Golden Gate Bridge, the most famous symbol of San Francisco are visible from every high point in the city. Driving or biking across is a thrill, but the half-hour walk allows you to absorb the amazing views.

Golden Gate National Park


Golden Gate Park is the largest and most beautiful of San Francisco’s parks. Exploratorium

Housed within San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts, the Exploratorium is a collage of over 650 interactive science, art, and human perception exhibits that enlighten and entertain. Historic Cable Cars

Since 1873, the historic Cable Cars have shuttled San Francisco residents and tourists throughout the city and been one of the most famous landmarks of the City on the Bay. One-day ($9), three-day ($15), or seven-day ($20) Passports are perfect for visitors, and allow riding on streetcars, buses and cable cars.

Palace of Fine Arts

The Palace of Fine Arts, the magnificent home of the Exploratorium, was created as part of the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition. The Palace, designed as a "valentine for San Francisco" by renowned architect Bernard Maybeck, is an imposing structure featuring a classical Roman rotunda with curved colonnades in an idyllic park setting.

The Palace holds art exhibitions, theater performances, events and has been the backdrop for movies, such as Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo. Enjoy a picnic, stroll by the lake, visit the Exploratorium and experience the ethereal beauty of the park and waterways.

San Francisco Zoo

The historic San Francisco Zoo is Northern California's largest zoological park and conservation center. Alcatraz Island

Cruise the choppy waters of San Francisco Bay to the rocky island of Alcatraz, formerly America's most high-security prison. Departing from Pier 41 by ferry, you will experience a 1-hour, self-guided tour of the infamous abandoned prison and cell blocks which includes audio commentary. You’ll get to experience a minute locked in a darkened cell.

Lombard Street

San Francisco’s most interesting attraction, Lombard Street is "The Crookedest Street in the World" because of its 8 sharp turns on a treacherous 40-degree slope. Lombard Street winds its way up Telegraph Hill to Coit Tower, and continues west down through the Marina to the Golden Gate Bridge.

A walk in either direction is a pleasant, winding hike through the Russian Hill neighborhood, which possesses stately mansions. In the spring and summer, Lombard St. is alive with color as the chrysanthemums are in bloom.

Grace Cathedral

Located atop Nob Hill, Grace Cathedral is the daughter of historic Grace Church. Designed in French Gothic style and completed in 1964, Grace is the third largest Episcopal cathedral in the nation. Famed for its Ghiberti doors -"The Gates of Paradise" - labyrinths, beautiful stained glass, medieval and contemporary furnishings, carillon, organs, and choir, Grace Cathedral is an international pilgrimage center. Castro District

The essence of gay life in San Francisco and home of the annual San Francisco Gay Pride celebration, The Castro - including parts of Market Street - is an exciting neighborhood of unique shops, restaurants, cafés, clubs, book/music stores, novelty stores, annual events and the landmark Castro Theater. In October, the Castro Street Fair - the city's longest-running street fair - booms with music from four stages, arts and crafts, drag shows, comedy, food, drink and throngs of festive people. A walking tour called Castro: Tales of the Village takes you down the historic byways of the Castro.

Haight-Ashbury

The "Summer of Love" lives in stores and boutiques throughout this charming Victorian neighborhood. Vintage clothing, books and records are abundant along Haight Street, the neighborhood's busiest stretch. Places of interest include the once home to the Grateful Dead, 112 Lyon Street, where Janis Joplin lived, Buena Vista Park, with its delightful views of San Francisco; and, for architectural highlights - Masonic, Piedmont and Delmar Streets.

Chinatown

Experience the rich culture of the Orient at restaurants, shops, markets, and bakeries of historic Chinatown. Visit the elegant Chinese Presbyterian Church and the Pacific Renaissance Plaza, which houses shops, restaurants, and the Oakland Asian Cultural Center.

San Francisco's Chinatown begins at the dragon-crested gate at Grant Avenue and Bush Street, a gift from the Republic of China in 1969. Chinatown’s 24-square blocks, in the middle of San Francisco, boast culturally-unique stores, open markets and facades resembling shopping in Hong Kong. Try Dim Sum, a traditional Chinese brunch.

Japantown

The heart of Japantown is Japan Center, a five-acre complex of hotels, shops, theaters, sushi bars and restaurants at Post and Buchanan Streets. It is crowned by a five-tiered pagoda, a symbol of eternal peace.

More than 12,000 residents of Japanese descent call this neighborhood home, preserving a traditional slice of Japanese life. Each April, Japantown celebrates its Cherry Blossom Festival. Taiko drumming, martial arts, doll making and calligraphy demonstrations lead to a colorful parade.

Nob Hill

Of the City's many hills, Nob Hill boasts incredible views of San Francisco Bay, especially from a cable car running from Market Street, over the hill and down to Van Ness Avenue. Nob Hill's noble tenants include Grace Cathedral, Huntington Park, the Nob Hill Masonic Center and the Cable Car Museum.

Folsom Street

Bill Graham Civic Auditorium

Twin Peaks

Coit Tower

Atop Telegraph Hill in North Beach, Coit Tower offers incredible views of San Francisco. Murals on its ground floor walls were painted in 1933 by some 30 local artists, each piece depicting a different aspect of the Great Depression.

Union Square

A landmark park in San Francisco, Union Square offers great shopping, an active theater district and high-end hotels. Surrounding the park square are major department stores - Macy's, and Neiman Marcus, as well as eeral others - luxury boutiques and superstores.

Sporting new granite plazas, a new terraced stage, light sculptures designed by artist R.M. The Presidio

The Presidio preserves a complex cultural and natural heritage within its 1,480 acres south of the Golden Gate Bridge. Once a U.S. Army post and site of the World’s Fair, the Presidio is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

Formerly Candlestick Park, 3Com Park has a colorful history as home of the Super Bowl Champions - San Francisco 49ers. AT&T Stadium/San Francisco Giants

Home to the San Francisco Giants, AT&T Park is a San Francisco landmark featuring breathtaking views and an inspiring nine-foot statue of Willie Mays. Bordered by downtown San Francisco and the Bay, this classic brick baseball park is an incredible venue for sporting events, concerts and the 2007 All-Star game.

Angel Island State Park

San Francisco Solano Mission

The last and northernmost California mission, Mission San Francisco Solano was the only mission founded after Mexico's independence from Spain and without approval of the Church. Founded in 1823, California’s 21st mission is part of the Sonoma State Historic Park in the town of Sonoma - 20 minutes north of San Francisco. Surrounded by lush vineyards, the historic Mission houses the Jorgensen watercolors of the Missions of California.

San Francisco Cow Palace

San Francisco Cow Palace hosts events, concerts, conventions, livestock shows, and is home to the Grand National Rodeo Horse & Stock Show (April 2007), Ringling Bros.

Bayside Park

Bayside Park offers the largest collection of athletic facilities in the Bay Area, including lit fields for soccer, youth baseball and softball. The San Francisco Center, westfield Shopping Center, is one of the largest retail shopping ceners west of he Misissippi. Yerba Buena Gardens
